Clear Sky Professionals Team Lead, David Swain, speaks Thane Caird, owner of Premier Carpet Cleaning and Restoration.

Thane, you have a wonderful reputation amongst homeowners, property managers, and Real Estate Agents alike. What do you think sets you apart?

One, our customers are not just another job. When you hire us, we will be there for you and do everything we can to make sure your job is completed with integrity.

Two, our experience and the trust that we have in our products, processes, and the time that we spend, we make sure that the client is taken care of.

What services do you offer?

Premier has the broadest and most unique cleaning solutions in Northern Arizona. If you can think of it, we clean it. Some of the most common services provided are carpet and tile cleaning, upholstery and specialty cleaning, and microbial inspections.

How did you get into this business?

My wife owned a daycare and couldn’t find a proper cleaning service to meet the needs of the daycares, hospitals, and doctor’s offices close by. Around that time, my dad got injured and was at the hospital when he met a guy in the waiting room that was looking for someone to mentor and take over his cleaning business.

What are the 3 most important steps a homeowner can take if there is damage to their home?

Make sure you have comprehensive insurance and know what your renters or homeowners insurance covers.

Make sure you have a time and date stamped record, such as a video or pictures to document your belongings and the state of your home before a loss occurs.

Don’t wait! As soon as you know you have a loss, call someone such as Premier to document your loss and stop secondary damage.

What are the best tips to help homeowners avoid a restoration or disaster in the first place?

One of the first things that I counsel clients on is making sure that the plumbing supply lines to your sinks or toilets are updated at least every 8-12 years. The water quality in our area can cause them to fail resulting in a major water loss.

Also make sure that your exterior water supplies such as a hose bib are properly weather proofed to prevent freezing during our cold winter.

Finally, we have a lot of second home and vacation properties here in Flagstaff. Homeowners should have someone monitor their homes when vacant to make sure that there are not any major issues with plumbing during the colder months. If you do have a leak or water event, and it is caught early, it will save your investment.

I know it is common for dogs to get sprayed by a skunk in Flagstaff. What should dog owners do about the odor?

My personal recipe for skunk odor on an animal is 2 gallons of warm water, 1 quarter cup of dish soap, one small box of baking soda, and 32 ounces of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Mix the dish soap and baking soda in a large container, apply it to the animal, allowing it to sit for 10 minutes, then lightly rinse the animal with warm water. After that apply the H2O2 taking special care to not allow it to get into the animal’s eyes. Allow it to sit for another 5 minutes and then thoroughly rinse with warm water. Thoroughly dry the animal and they will be back on the couch snuggling up to you by the end of the day!

If your business had a soundtrack, what three songs would be on it?

Till I Collapse - Eminem

Son of a Sinner - Jelly Roll

Lead Me to the Cross - Hillsong United

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve given to your children?
